Italo Calvino’s “Invisible Cities” is an old favorite of mine. Mauriia is a city built on the memory of another city of the same name. John and I just saw Woody Allen’s new movie “Midnight in Paris” which is essentially the same idea. This painting is a postcard of one of those imagined cities.
