A) “Between Vessel and Passage” was created specifically for Urbanity by artist John Rufo. The painting is a composition of layers of light and color that depict the relationship between the solids and voids created by the body as it moves through space and time. The painting is a 16” x 16” oil on board. FMV $1500. Current Bid $600.

B) This Urbanity Rehearsal Drawing is one of a series made during rehearsals in a year-long partnership between the artist, Dan Jay, and Urbanity Dance Company. It is a 18” x 24” Japanese brush pen on paper. FMV $600. Starting Bid $195.

C) "287 Water Street 2013" is one of Sam Earle’s mixed media paintings, composed of tediously layered, hand-painted transfers on hollow-core wooden doors. He embellishes some images with tacks that are painted over, and then glazed with acrylic. Earle’s work can be found in many private and public collections, including the DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. FMV $7500. Starting Bid $1500.

Please note that should you like to see any of the above art in person, we will arrange a special showing for you. Contact eleanor@urbanitydance.org.

Look forward to your visit to the Urbanity Online Auction! 5 Days and counting…

This is a series of small oil and mixed media paintings on board.  They are inspired by my friend Jeff who works on the Indian Creek Farm in Ithaca New York.  Jeff photographs the goings on at Indian Creek, and writes a terrific BLOG.  Jeff and I have been corresponding and collaborating on farm subject matter for the past few months.  The result is these five paintings.  Enjoy!  And by all means, check out Indian Creek.  It’s a happening place!

New “barn portrait”, currently at Studio Hop in Providence.  Haven’t had much time to blog lately.  Hopefully over the holidays  I’ll find time to get some more pieces posted.

"Approaching The Meadow"  Another diptych.  8 x 16 oil on board.  I’m running with this theme for the moment - Light through the trees or light indicating a space beyond.  There hasn’t been much time to paint lately but we’re headed to the cape on the 11th for a couple of weeks of brain regeneration.  I’m hoping that it yields some new work on this theme.

Oil and Oil Pastel on Canvas - I started these canvases over a year ago, got frustrated by trying to understand and render the combination of interior and exterior light, and so I put them away… Near by, but away.  This morning I pulled them out.  I wasn’t really up for starting a brand new canvas but rainy weather providing even light in my studio, combined with the free time to actually do something is such a rarity these days - so I started to rework these with oil pastels and just a touch of oil medium.  So far, so good… or at least better than before.
