I did these last winter. I still really like the colors. Alice named one of them the Mermaid Castle, which wasn’t what I was thinking of at the time, but I like it. I started a series of 3 smaller collage paintings based on the neighborhood image from here (and from the previous post). I’ll put them up when they’re done.
This oil painting is 30” x 40”. During Open Studios last spring, I was commissioned to do a smaller (24” x 36”) version of this. It was really fun revisiting the composition. I bought two bigger canvases as well with the intention of doing something similar, but we went to the Cape and I was seduced by the light down there. Now, I’m not sure if I will do this or something a bit more free-form like the night climbing series.
